Hello my name is Arlene. I am the head of A&R for Ciao Records in Glasgow. This means that I have to find new bands to sign to the record label. However, before I do this there are a few things that must be done. Firstly bands will send in their demo tapes to the label and myself and a few other shall listen through them and pick at least one good tape. Then we will contact that band and arrange a time to go and see them either in a rehersal or at gig. So this job could take me all over the UK. Secondly either myself or a colleague shall go and see the band. From here on we may decide to go and see them again, sign them straight away or decide not to sign them. After we have signed a band it is then my job to look after them and make sure they get the best from their contract. Things I get up to outside of the company are still very much musical orientated as I am a drummer in a band called the Slipper Limpets. This is something that I enjoy very much and hopefully we will get signed some day. Something that I also take great joy in doing is writing music and playing guitar in another band with a good friend of mine who is also my writing partner. I also enjoy painting and getting very drunk with my band and my friends. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
